  • How young can my child start?

Typically about a quarter of our under 6s are aged 5 at the start of the year. A child turning 5 this year is not necessarily out of place; it depends on the child. Football Federation of Australia generally sets a minimum age requirement, your child must be turning 5 before June in the year of their registration.

Once teams are selected a parent will need to volunteer to coach the team, for U6 to U12 we have our training provider KANO to provide coaches for midweek training which parents pay for with a partial subsidy from the club and the parent coach manages match day

It is MANDATORY for all our Coaches and Managers to hold a valid Working With Children check certificate if over the age of 18.

Our junior and senior teams train weekly at either Thornleigh or Normanhurst Oval.

Training times are scheduled after the formation of teams in Feb/March, as times will depend on the number of teams in each age group and what is able to be arranged. Training can be any evening (starting from 4.30pm) between Mon-Thurs and will be selected based on what most suits the team your child is placed in.

    YES!

NEFC provides an environment that builds a love for the game, self confidence and the enjoyment of team sport with FRIENDS!

We will always look to place players with friends or school year groups for U6 to U8.

This can be requested to the mixed or girls miniroos coordinators

We cannot always guarantee this as it is dependent on registration numbers etc.

  • Do you grade your junior teams?

From U9 to U18 the club grades players in accordance to ability.

We do recognize the importance of competing, as it teaches children the value of winning and losing but these values do not override our commitment to providing our grassroots players with a positive sporting experience, regardless of their perceived level of skill and/or ability.
