2010 Australian Juniors Football Sevens Tournament

Venue: The Kings School Football Club, Sunday 30th May.
Despite the wet weather from the previous week, the day broke with blue sky and the tournament went ahead. The competition was made up of 6 age groups, U12 to opens (16+), 48 teams in all from both Schools and clubs.
Normanhurst was represented by the 13/4, which played the U14 comp, against some pretty hot teams, largely school “A” teams or Div 1 club sides.
Normo struck a very sharp Winston Hills Bears outfit first up, and was it not for some magnificent work from Al in goals, wouldn’t have stayed in the game. They were bigger and faster in the end and got the result.
We also got the short end of the draw with 2 games in 3 matches in the game rotations, which was tough without subs. However showing their Normo’ fighting spirit, almost pinched the second of these games against Blue Mountains Grammar School, and probably deserved a draw after Lachlan scored from one of Franks corners.
The last game against Kings we got to the half at nil nil, and had some chances of our own, but the lack of subs took it toll towards the end. Best summed up by Josh at the end of the third game “I didn’t know you could get so tired in 7 minutes (1 half)”
Jamie (Mr Perpetual Motion), Tim (Nevergiveup), and Jake (The Ninja) we all great.
The whole day was well organised, and I would recommend it should anyone get the opportunity to participate.
A big thank you to our club for the opportunity to play and to all the boys parents for getting them there.
