COVID-SAFE TRAINING

The following requirements must be met by ALL players, coaches, managers, parents and club officials at all times. This information will change as the restriction levels change.

CLUB REQUIREMENTS FOR T3 COMPLAINT TRAINING

UPDATE: On Friday (12th June), the NSW Government announced further easing of COVID-19 related restrictions in line with the "Level B - Return to Training" phase effective from Saturday 13 June. This allows for teams to train in groups of up to 20 people instead of the current 10.

For teams taking part in non-T3 training, this means that you no longer need to split your squad into groups of 10, but can train as a single group. Importantly however, social distancing is still required and any contact with challenges and tackles is still prohibited. This means that training can not yet include full contact games.

Teams taking part in T3 sessions will still remain as per the current arrangement but we are aiming to return to team based training as soon as possible.

For BOTH T3 and non-T3 training, the following requirements MUST be met by all players coaches, managers, parents and club official at all times.

PRIOR TO ATTENDING TRAINING: Participants should not attend training if, in the past 14 days, they have:
  • Been unwell or had any flu like symptoms, or
  • been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19, or
  • suffered any sudden loss of smell, or loss of taste, or
  • are at a high risk from a health perspective
  • have pre-existing serious medical health conditions

BEFORE TAKING THE FIELD: When taking part in training sessions, players and parents must observe the following:
Players should arrive close to the time of the training session

SOCIAL DISTANCING: Social Distancing must be observed at all times, before, during and after each training session by maintaining a 1.5m distance from each other and 1 person per 4sqm.

NORMANHURST AND THORNLEIGH OVAL LAYOUT

Both Normanhurst Oval and Thornleigh Oval have been divided into quarters.  The sign on sheet will identify which pitch each player will be training on.
  • Players and coaches must not congregate in groups before or after training.
  • Players should move directly onto their training pitch promptly at the start of their session time
  • All sessions must finish at the designated time in order to allow for a safe transition between session.

T3 TRAINING

Players taking part in T3 Training at both Normanhurst and Thornleigh Oval must follow the following procedure.
  1. Players must be signed up for a session in order to be able to participate and can only participate in this session. They cannot swap between sessions. This is to ensure that we are able to maintain the correct number of players on the field at any one time.
  2. Upon arrival at training, please remain outside of the fenced area of the oval until your designated training time. There will be a ten minute transition period between each training block to allow for entry and exit to the field.
  3. Entry to the field MUST be via the designated entry point next to the Normanhurst Clubhouse or at the base of the path onto the field at Thornleigh.
  4. Players taking part in training sessions must sign on at the sign on desk prior to joining training. This is a requirement for taking part in training and are in case any contact tracing needs to occur.
  5. At the completion of training T3 coaches will direct players to the EXIT points where they can be collected.

NON-T3 TEAM TRAINING

A similar process will be followed for teams opting for team based training run by your coaches.
  1. Upon arrival at training, please remain outside of the fenced area of the oval until your designated training time. There will be a ten minute transition period between each training block to allow for entry and exit to the field.
  2. Entry to the field MUST be via the designated entry point next to the Normanhurst Clubhouse or at the base of the path onto the field at Thornleigh.
  3. Coaches or Managers will take an attendance and players sign on prior to joining training. This is a requirement for taking part in training and are in case any contact tracing needs to occur.
  4. At the completion of training coaches will direct players to the EXIT points where they can be collected.

During training:
  • Training can ONLY occur in designated training groups.  Training Groups may be NO MORE than 10 people – including the coach, manager or “training leaders” designated for each group.
  • Players must be informed of their Training Group prior to attending their first session. IF a team (including coach) does not exceed 20 players they can be designated as a single training group.
  • Players and coaches are NOT allowed to move into, or swap with, other training groups during a session.
  • Players should remain in the same training group week-to-week, until further notice from the club.
  • Coaches / Training Leaders may alternate between the different training groups from week-to-week (NOT in the same session).
  • No person to person contact training drills to be conducted.
  • No more than 20 people to be involved in the drill. For example, one coach, nineteen players.
  • Social distancing to be implemented – 1.5m.
  • 20 people to be in a spacing so that there is no more than 1 person per 4m².
  • Any handling of equipment is to be kept to a minimum or should be by a designated person.
  • Heading of a ball may occur during the natural process of a drill, for example a ball being crossed. However, practising of heading by picking up the ball and throwing is not allowed.
  • Throw-ins are not allowed.
  • No usage of change rooms, gym, or inside areas are allowed.
  • If training bibs are used, each individual player is to be allocated a bib and each player is required to take the bib home and wash.
  • Regular breaks are to be provided for the purpose of rehydrating and hand sanitising.

After Training:
  • Players are to enter and leave the pitch and venue in a coordinated manner minimising contact with others and not gathering in large groups.
  • No social activity is to occur once training has concluded.

Our T3 partners have also supplied us with a link to a 30 min stream tutorial that may be of help in showing what a COVID compliant training session would look like and demonstrating how sessions can still be enjoyable and develop all participants.
